1. Be At Kildare for St. Brigid’s Day

If you’re in Ireland at the start of February, head onto the quaint picturesque town of Kildare for St. Brigid’s Day. St. Brigid is the female patron saint of Ireland, a counterpart to St. Patrick. Her ‘day’ is also called the Imholc, a feast to celebrate the beginning of spring.

Be in Kildare just to witness how townsfolk celebrate it, like putting white cloth or ribbon on the door or gate, leaving food by the window and eating at restaurants that serve St. Brigid’s bread for visitors to try. 

2. Visit Belfast in Northern Ireland

7. Cavan Burren 

A part of the Marble Arches Geopark, the Cavan Burren is another part of Ireland that you can visit and explore even during the cold months. This geological wonder maybe mot as popular as its counterpart in County Clare, but it does look quite otherworldly under the winter light, making it a must-visit if you’re in Ireland on February. 

8. Strandhill Beach

How about a winter stroll along the beach? You do not have to get in the water of course, but it’s another side of Irish winter that’s a must-see. Strandhill Beach is also considered as one of Ireland’s hidden beaches, that also offers a magnificent view of the Knocknarea Mountain nearby.

Located in County Sligo, there are also some great walking trails from Strandhill Beach to Culleenamore Strand and also to Killaspubrone if you want to explore more.

1. It is best to set out early if your plan for the day involves driving as there still isn’t enough sun during this time and it’s difficult to navigate roads you’re not familiar with once the sunsets.
