A hotel built in the 18th century, this is a convenient place to stay in Galway if you’re looking to splurge. The higher quality or better service here is something you won’t experience every day, which makes Glenlo a must even if it’s one of the most expensive hotels in Ireland.
At check-in, a helpful doorman greeted me, and when I checked out, the same helpful doorman escorted my luggage to my car. When I got hungry, I went straight to Palmers Restaurant for some slow-cooked brisket and a basket of chips.
In-room movie viewing is one of my favorite ways to spend time at a luxury hotel. My “Mistletoe on the Rocks” cocktail and a bucket of popcorn were welcome in the theater.
The breakfast the next morning was superb; they even had their honeycomb, one of my favorite indulgences. I was able to snag a table by the window and ate slowly while taking in the scenery of the gardens.
